
Reverend George R. Simpson
The Reverend George R. Simpson
is a native of North Carolina. He is an only son reared by grandparents after an early death of both parents.
Rev. Simpson was educated in North Carolina, completing both his high school and college education there. After moving to
Baltimore, Maryland, he earned a Master of Health Science Degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene, while
employed as a laboratory technician for the Baltimore City Water Department.
Pastor Simpson is married to Dorothy, the daughter of the late Rev. Dr. Isaac M. and Mrs. Dorothy A. Gray, and is the
father of three children: George, Jr, Roderick and Genifer. He enjoys his eight grandchildren: Emanuel, Angelika, Alyssia,
Summer, Sydney, Paul Phillip, Kaleb and Joshua.
Born into a baptist family, Rev. Simpson has been an A.M.E. all of his post college life. He joined the ministerial ranks
in the sixties being called to God to serve. He began his service at St. John A.M.E. Church in Baltimore under the leadership
of the late Rev. Gray and the late Rev. Joseph S. Grant. He was ordained an Itinerary Deacon and in 1988, he was ordained an
Itinerary Elder under the hand of Bishop John Hurst Adams while being an assoicate minister under the leadership of Rev.
Benjamin S. Foust. Rev. Simpson received his first pastorate at that same conference to Queen Esther A.M.E. Church, Ivytown, MD.
For the past twenty-one years, Rev. Simpson has served Queen Esther. He has an extreme love for this fine congregation and
believes that obedience to God's Word is paramount to walking the walk and talking the talk. he will probably be remembered for
many people he has baptized for the kingdom of God. He has preached at many churches on the Eastern Shore.
Rev. Simpson has studied many of the popular religions of our day and has done extensive study of the Bible and
other contemporary works. He is also self-employed in the Water Treatment Industry.
Rev. Simpson believes that God's next assignment for him will reveal his most illustrious work, the best is yet to come -
To God be the Glory.
